Press Release: Talk The Talk Appoints New Chair of Trustees

Talk The Talk

[Herefordshire – 1st September 2025]: Talk The Talk, the charity dedicated to providing oracy skills to young people, is delighted to announce the appointment of Steve Phillips as its new Chair of Trustees.

Steve brings proven senior leadership across the corporate, charity and education sectors, and will lead the Board of Trustees in supporting Talk The Talk’s mission to equip young people with the communication skills and confidence to succeed in life and work.

Comment from Dave Aldred, Interim Chair of Trustees

“We are thrilled to welcome Steve as our new Chair of Trustees. With Steve’s proven leadership skills, passion and experience in youth development and education, he is the right person to lead the Charity during its next phase of delivering high quality and impactful oracy skills-based training to young people. It has been a privilege to serve as Interim Chair over the last 12 months, and I know Steve will bring both vision and energy to help drive the charity forward.”

Comment from Mark Farmer, Director of Talk The Talk

“Steve’s appointment marks an exciting new chapter for Talk The Talk. For over 10 years our charity has won much admiration from schools across England and Wales. I now look forward to working closely with Steve to further increase the reach of our student and teacher workshops to help even more young people to communicate confidently for life.

Relationships with grant making trusts and other education partners are extremely valuable to a charity. Steve and I will further develop our collaborations with the Jack Petchey Foundation and other funders as well as building new partnerships in the corporate and international sector.

Steve also has a background in lobbying through his former Chair role of English UK and looks forward to utilising this experience now for Talk The Talk.

I would like to pass on my gratitude to Dave Aldred for his interim leadership and support over the last year and I am extremely pleased that Dave remains a dedicated Trustee of Talk The Talk”
