A Blueprint For High Oracy Standards In The National Curriculum
Talk The Talk
As an Impact Organisation within the Skills Builder Partnership, all our core workshop programmes are designed to support the development of essential skills at Impact Level 4. Through our workshops, young people have the opportunity to strengthen key skills such as Speaking, Listening, and Aiming High, aligned with the Skills Builder Universal Framework. Along with the inputs from other impact organisations across the wider Partnership, we play an important role in delivering a comprehensive approach to essential skills development for young people – empowering them to aspire and achieve success.
As a member of the Skills Builder Partnership, we are delighted to raise awareness of the recently published report by the Skills Builder Partnership UK, ‘Speaking and Listening at Scale: A blueprint for high oracy standards in the national curriculum.‘
The report is released at a key time when the UK Government is undertaking its Curriculum and Assessment Review which offers an excellent opportunity for essentials skills, such as speaking and listening, to be more deeply and distinctly embedded into the UK education system.
The report offers a wide ranging overview of the current state of speaking and listening in the curriculum, the key problems to address and goes on to set out research-informed solutions that seek to ensure oracy is successfully delivered within the education system.

At Talk The Talk, we engage directly with young people and their teachers within schools and broader educational establishments, delivering impactful workshops focused on oracy kills and building spoken confidence. Our confident communication workshops help students strengthen their visual, vocal, and verbal communication skills, understand the value of clear structure in spoken language, and use persuasive techniques to convey their ideas effectively. Through our workshops, students are encouraged to step beyond their comfort zones and grow into confident communicators for life.
